My Organizations

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is the trusted source for professional development, knowledge generation, advocacy, and leadership for innovation. A nonprofit membership organization, ISTE provides leadership and service to improve teaching, learning, and school leadership by advancing the effective use of technology in PK–12 and teacher education.

CCUMC, Consortium of College and University Media Centers, is a dynamic organization whose mission is to provide leadership and a forum for information exchange. Our members are the providers of media and technology support for quality teaching and learning at higher education institutions. The over 750 members represent all sizes of institutions in higher education that provide media/instructional technology-related support services, as well as companies providing related products.

The Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), founded in 1981, is an international, not-for-profit, educational organization with the mission of advancing Information Technology in Education and E-Learning research, development, learning, and its practical application.

ALA Connect helps members engage in ALA business and network with others. It’s a single virtual location in which ALA members can collaborate and work on division, round table, and committee projects with an impressive spread of tools: blog-like posts, online documents, group calendars, surveys and polls, chat rooms, discussion forums, and RSS/email alerts to track progress.

Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. Sponsored by MarylandOnline, Inc, Quality Matters has generated widespread interest and received national recognition for its peer-based approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement in online education. Originating from a FIPSE grant, Quality Matters is now a self-supporting organization offering institutional subscriptions and a range of fee-based services including Quality Matters-managed course reviews and an array of trainings.

The American Library Association is a voluntary member organization of librarians and library workers, trustees, friends and advocates dedicated to promoting library services, funding and library use.  ALA is not a union, but ALA does advocate for equitable funding for libraries as well as the visibility of librarians in their communities. ALA is active nationally in a number of places, particularly intellectual freedom, equity of access to information, and 21st century literacy.
